TEEN PROGRAMS

Teen Game Nights
Thursdays, 5–7pm January 17th, February 21st, March 21st, April 18th

Wii games, board games, cards… Play ours or bring your own. No need to sign up, just show up and get your game on! 6th – 12th grade.

T.A.G.
Third Thursday of each month: January 17th, February 21th, March 21st and April 18th from 4-5 pm.

Inviting All Teens! Join the Fossil Ridge Teen Advisory Group Join our T.A.G. meetings and tell us what activities you like and what books, music, video games you want us to buy. Make new friends, develop leadership skills and earn community service hours. Grades 6-12. Registration is not required. Questions? Self Defense Classes
January 26th, February 9th & 23rd 12-2pm

Learn valuable self defense skills from black belt karate instructor Sensei Doug Whittum. Practice applying techniques and strategies to a variety of situations. Signing up with a friend to practice with is strongly encouraged but not required. The classes are free. Ages 14 & up.

Valentine Votives
February 14th 5-7 pm

Create a valentine decoupage flameless candle holder, LED votive candle is included. Registration is required for this free class. Grades 6-12.

Third Annual Teen Art Exhibit
March 8th and 9th

Fossil Ridge is seeking talented middle school and high school artists to participate in our Teen Art Exhibit. Artists may submit up to five works from any medium. No entry fee is required, though submission forms (one per piece) are needed and available online above or at the Library. Artwork will be judged and prizes will be awarded. Completed forms and art works must be submitted by March 1st. Art will be on display March 8th and 9th during Library hours. The public is invited to attend an Artist’s Reception on March 9th 11am – 2pm to meet the participating artists and enjoy refreshments.

Teen Art Attack
March 23rd 12-2pm

Each participant will create a painting on a 6”x6” canvas. The paintings will be assembled to create a unique “patchwork” piece for the library’s teen area.

Mini Terrariums
April 20th 12-2pm

Celebrate Earth Week! Tiny terrariums are the perfect way to green up your world; they also make great recycled gifts! Registration is required for this free program. Gr. 6-12.

Glowing Fairy Jars
May 4th, 12-2 pm

Create an enchanting glowing fairy jar. Registration is required for this free class. Grades 6-12. Samples are on display at the library.


HOMESCHOOL

Sign up now for the following field trips:
X-treme Trampolines in Carol Stream from 10am to noon Jan 16 th

It’s a warehouse of trampolines on the floors and up the walls. $7.00 per jumper. We will have the place to ourselves!

Maple Syrup Tapping at Pilcher Park
March 4th 10am – noon

Enjoy a nature walk in the woods, see how syrup is collected, visit the boiling house , Nature Center and All-You-Can-Eat pancakes and sausages. Cost is $9.00 per child and $7.00 per chaperone.

Join Homeschool Librarian Tammy, other moms and kids at the Braidwood Area Homeschool co-op called Co-Pek
Every Friday from 10am-3pm beginning in January. For more info. contact Tammy at 815-458-2187. Our library also has its own homeschool section with books, videos and games for check-out. Come and see the Homeschool Bulletin Board which posts up-to-date homeschool activities in the area.
