BOOK DISCUSSION

Do you like to read and discuss books? The Book Club meets monthly on the fourth Mondays at 6:30 p.m. to discuss a book selected by one of the members. This group discusses a wide variety of books. Copies of the monthly book selections are available for checkout at the library. All readers are welcome to join! Coming up:

CPR and First Aid Class
Sat. June 1st 10am-2pm
Ages 12+ $25 per person for full class, $15 per person for first aid only..

Pet Food for Fines
June 3rd-8th Reduce your fines by bringing in pet food (dry and unopened). 1 lb. food = $1 in fines. Food will be given to local animal shelters. Food cannot be used to pay for lost or damaged items .

Fossil Ridge Community Blood Drives

Have Book—Will Travel Summer Reading Program
All ages May 28th – August 3rd

Registration will begin Tuesday, May 28th at 9am for Fossil Ridge Library card holders. Registration for all others begins Monday, June 3rd at 9am.

Abraham Lincoln Impersonator
Wed. June 5th 11am-12pm

Abraham Lincoln impersonator David Nance’s performance includes reenactment of famous speeches, history presentation, Q&A and short skits. Registration preferred.

David Clark’s Route 66
Wed. June 12th 6-7:30pm

Local historian David Clark presents interesting facts about Rt.66 in Braidwood and an historic overview of the entire route. Registration is preferred for this free program.

Wine Tasting
Wed. June 19th 6-7pm

Wine specialist Danna Stillwell will offer a variety of wines for tasting from the vineyards of Utica, IL. 21 and older, with photo ID. A $5 refundable deposit is required and will be returned at presentation. 30 patron limit.

So You Have a Story…My Journey from Page to Publishing
Wed. June 26th 6-7:30pm

Local author and teacher Johanna Shapard gives an excellent informational presentation on the mechanics of the writing process and how to go from page to publisher and what to do after one signs a contract. Registration preferred.

Foreign Film & Food
Tues. July 9th

Enjoy free popcorn & foreign food, while watching an international film. Registration is required. 30 patron limit.

Salsa 101
Wed. July 10th 6-7pm

Carl Linder presents a beginner salsa class for adult patrons. Registration is required for this free class. Space is limited.

Irish Dance Performance
Wed. July 10th 7–7:30pm

We are pleased to welcome the Keigher Academy Irish Dancers from Joliet to perform at the library. All ages welcome. Registration is required.

Walt Disney 101
Wed. July 17th 6-7pm

Disney World veteran, Karen Luster, will share travel tips for those traveling to the Disney World Resort in Orlando. Reg. required.

Chef Michael’s Global Sampling
Wed. July 31st 6-7:30pm

Join Chef Michael Niksic for a delicious evening sampling food from around the world. Registration is required.

Adult Summer Reading Finale
Sat. August 3rd 12pm

Celebrate a close to our Summer Reading program. Enjoy live music, hamburgers, hotdogs and more. Receive your finale ticket when you return your completed book log to the library.

Six Flags Great America
Wednesday, August 14th
Join us for an exciting trip to Six Flags Great America. The cost of $40.00 per person includes an admission ticket and a first-class coach bus ride. Bus leaves the library at 8:30am and arrives at the park at 10:30am. We will leave the park at 7:30pm and return to the library at 9:30pm. Ages 10 and up suggested. Ages 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Sign-up begins May 28th for Fossil Ridge patrons. Registration for all others begins June 3rd.
