BOOK DISCUSSION

Do you like to read and discuss books? The Book Club meets monthly on the fourth Mondays at 6:30 p.m. to discuss a book selected by one of the members. This group discusses a wide variety of books. Copies of the monthly book selections are available for checkout at the library. All readers are welcome to join! Coming up:

COMPUTER CLASSES

Classes are designed for adults with limited computer or Internet experience. Hands on opportunities for beginners. Small class size for these Thursday classes. Seniors welcome. Registration needed for these free one hour class sessions:
Internet Basics - For the first-time Internet user.
Covers terminology, searching by web address and using web pages.
1 p.m. class - Oct. 9, or Nov. 6 OR 6 p.m. class - Oct. 7, or Nov. 4
Internet Search Engines - Continues the Internet Basics class.
Using search engines (Yahoo and Google) to search the Internet.
1 p.m. class - Oct. 30, or Nov. 20 OR 6 p.m. class - Oct. 28, or Nov. 18

Senior Coffee
Join other seniors from the community at these monthly gatherings, which are moving to the second Tuesday of each month at 1:00 p.m.
Short programs are being planned for the following dates:

L.I.H.E.A.P. (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program)
This program will be available to lend assistance at the library on Oct. 30, Nov. 17 and Dec. 29 from noon to 2 p.m. Call the Will Co. Center for Community Concerns at (815)722-0722 for more information.

Knitting and Crocheting Workshops
Knitting - September 18 and 25 at 6 p.m. (two-part workshop) Fee $10
Crocheting - October 23 and 30 at 6 p.m. (two-part workshop) Fee $15
Join "Have Yarn - Will Travel" instructors to learn the basics of knitting and crocheting. Adults and teens of all levels and abilities are welcome at these two-part classes. Never held needles or a hook before? Never fear! Left-handed? No problem. Everyone is guaranteed to know how to knit or crochet by the end of the workshop. Advanced registration and payment of fee is necessary for these two-part workshops. Project supplies included. Approx. 90 minutes each night.


55 Alive Driver Safety Program
October 6 and 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is a two-day program presented by AARP.


Organizing for the Holidays
Thursday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m.

Gobble, gobble! Ho, ho, ho! The holidays are creeping up on us. Are you ready for them? Which part makes you crazy - shopping, wrapping, shipping, cleaning, decorating, socializing, or traveling? It can be a bit much if you do not organize in advance to handle the onslaught. If you find the holiday season more stressful than joyful, help is available here. Free presentation by Karen McGregor, a professional organizer. Call the library to signup.


Joliet American Legion Band and the Reed-Custer Bands Concert
Sunday, Nov. 16 beginning at 1:30 p.m.

This free concert sponsored by Fossil Ridge has always been an excellent musical experience. Held at the Reed-Custer High School Auditorium. Everyone is welcome to join us there!
